Town development centered on villages
This project was the first state of the art architectural project in Japan to use all LED lighting fixtures in the building, and was adopted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as a “model project for promoting CO2 reduction in housing and buildings,” and received recognition from many quarters for its environmental friendliness. This was the starting point for the all social-environment oriented activities that followed, continueing to this day. Looking back at Yamashita’s architecture, which is currently promoting the SDGs, this “A-ring” is the first building in which he formed a team, conducted extensive research, and fully realized his ideals.

Yamashita excels in identifying what the next requisite will be in the future immediately and be driven to take action accordingly. His latest belief for what is necessary for the future is community development centered on small settlements and villages. Yamashita intends to use his innovative thinking and expertise in architecture to advance community development in line with SDGs, broadenening the architectural influence from indevidual pieces of architecture as points to whole villages as planes, in hope for a brighter future.
